Thompson Engineering is looking for a qualified Quality Assurance Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a project in Indiantown, FL.  The Quality Assurance SME will be a critical team member of our proven project management team.  Interested candidates should have a thorough understanding of construction and practical knowledge of construction standards, means and methods.  Some local travel is required.  Automobile allowance is provided. Work schedule is anticipated to be 40 hours per week with additional shift and/or overtime, weekend/holiday work as necessary

The successful candidate will perform SME Quality Assurance services on civil works projects assigned which may include, but not limited to, construction inspection of dams, levees, embankments, berms, cut-off walls, reservoirs, canals, pumping stations, roadways, bridges, earthwork, project ancillary features, temporary construction facilities, and other general construction.

 Job Requirements: 

  • Experience in earthwork, concrete, vertical construction is highly desirable;
  • 10 years heavy civil or wastewater construction experience;
  • thorough knowledge with all the provisions of construction contract documents, including submittals, changes to the plans and specifications, and all revisions and amendments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally;
  • Ability to obtain DOD Security Clearance 

A Plus

  • Knowledge of EM 385-1-1, Safety and Health Requirements Manual
  • Experience with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers RMS
  • Current CQM-C certification
  • Current CAC
  • OSHA Safety Certifications
  • Quality Assurance Certifications for soil testing, concrete testing, and other field testing. 
     

Candidate must be able to perform the typical duties and responsibilities this job which requires: 
 

  • Inspect QC and safety plans to ensure compliance with contract specifications and applicable regulations
  • Inspect all phases of construction for conformity
  • Communicate deficiencies to proper officials.
  • Maintain QA files and documents daily results of all inspections.
  • Review construction plans and specifications and construction submittals as they pertain to quality assurance.
  • Document inspections via daily reports and manually enter into government electronic databases, such as RMS. 
  • Responsible for safe daily site visits to the project site. 
  • Conduct independent follow-up quality assurance inspections. 
  • Maintain deficiency list in RMS. 
  • Review and update submittal register. 
  • Participate in 3-phase inspection control meetings.
  • Discuss issues/corrections required in daily reports with appropriate US Government Representatives. 
  • Work collaboratively within work group
  • Work overtime, weekends, holidays as required.
